Our jobs deserve real protection and a real voice.
Right now we have no legally enforceable contract. Management can change our pay, schedules, working conditions and policies at any time, without notice, input or accountability. Scroll through what that means, and what changes with a contract.
Flip the switch
Our job today. Our job with a contract.
Tap "With our contract" to see what changes.
Pay & schedules
Changed by management whenever they decide. No input, no notice.
Locked in writing. Change requires our approval, and we have the legal right to bargain for more.
Discipline
Any SkyWest Flight Attendant can be disciplined or terminated without explanation or accountability.
"Just cause" protection and the right to representation. Nobody is disciplined on a whim.
Grievances
No real grievance process. Favoritism, retaliation and arbitrary decisions go unchecked.
A fair, enforceable grievance procedure. When things go wrong, we can take action.
Probation
The longest probationary period in the industry, and no real job security even after it ends.
Probation brought in line with industry standards (most AFA airlines: 6 months), and real protections once it ends.
The benefits we like
Copied from union wins, then quietly taken back behind the scenes. None of it is guaranteed.
Protected and guaranteed in a contract backed by federal law.
Our voice
Industry shifts hit us first: cuts, pressure, stagnant wages. We get no say.
A seat at the table and the strength of 50,000+ AFA Flight Attendants behind us.
The truth is, none of the things we appreciate about our job are currently protected or guaranteed.
The pattern
What management gives, they often take away.

How it works
They copy the visible wins.
SkyWest management has copied some of the most visible benefits unionized Flight Attendants fought hard to win. It looks like progress. It isn't protected.
Behind the scenes
Then they take it back.
Over the years, management has made unilateral changes to our pay, schedules, flexibility and working conditions, without our input or consent.
With a contract
Change requires our approval.
A contract locks in what we value, gives us the legal right to bargain for improvements, and creates a clear, enforceable process to address violations before changes are made.
The tier system must end
Same job. Up to 45% less pay.
We do the same job as mainline Flight Attendants, so why are we paid up to 45% less?
Mainline Flight Attendant100%
SkyWest Flight Attendantas low as 55%
Every day, SkyWest Flight Attendants ensure the safety and comfort of our passengers, respond to inflight emergencies and serve as first responders in the sky. Under the tiered system, regional Flight Attendants are paid significantly less for the same essential work.
50,000+
AFA Flight Attendants we'd stand with nationwide
75+
years of AFA winning legally enforceable contracts
Together with Flight Attendants at other regional airlines, we are building the collective strength to demand real respect and better pay, and to end the unjust divide between regional and mainline careers. With AFA-CWA we gain legal power and a seat at the table. We are stronger together.
Tap each question
Is SIA a union? Run the test.
Five things a real union can do. Tap each one to see whether SIA can.
No.SIA cannot bargain a legally binding contract. It has no legal power to compel SkyWest to honor any agreement.
No.SIA has no legal standing to file grievances through the courts or the NMB. There is no independent recourse.
No.Management influences SIA elections, and the Department of Labor has taken action because of this interference.
No.It answers to management. Every message, proposal and "win" is filtered through what SkyWest allows.
No.SIA exists to prevent us from organizing a real union. It's a management strategy, plain and simple, to stop us from having true collective power through AFA-CWA.

After winning our election, SkyWest Flight Attendants choose our first group of union leaders: Flight Attendants who understand our job, needs and priorities. They guide the next phase of building our union and preparing for contract negotiations.
We select SkyWest Flight Attendants from our own ranks to serve as our bargaining team, trained and supported by AFA's experienced negotiators, who have helped Flight Attendants at other airlines win real gains.
Through private surveys, discussions and meetings, we decide what matters most, from pay and schedules to flexibility, reserve and quality of life. Those priorities guide our team at the table.
Management is legally required to negotiate with us in good faith. No more sudden policy changes or unfair decisions at their whim. Our voices carry weight backed by federal law.
No contract goes into effect unless a majority of SkyWest Flight Attendants vote to approve it. We have the final say. Nothing is implemented without our approval.
Once our first contract is in place, we keep building strength and unity. Our union is led by Flight Attendants, for Flight Attendants, focused entirely on protecting our rights and improving our future.
This is how we create lasting change. With AFA, we are not alone. We join a family of over 50,000 Flight Attendants who have walked this path and won. Now it's our turn.

Romero Malone flew the line at SkyWest, served as SIA President, then moved to United under an AFA-CWA contract. On this week's It's Time Live, Romero breaks down the real difference between company policy and an enforceable union contract. Listen in, and sign your card today.
In this powerful new It’s Time Live podcast episode, SkyWest Flight Attendants Brandon, Kelly, Stephanie, and Gailen answer questiosn from new hire SkyWest Flight Attendants and chat about what’s really happening on the line—and why building our SkyWest AFA union is more urgent than ever.
SkyWest loosely copies union wins, adds pennies, and lets its company-controlled group take credit. They hold "votes," but without secure, independent processes or transparency. It’s not real negotiation—it’s management’s script. It’s time for a real union: SkyWest AFA.
