Jacque Crossley - SLC

I’ve been a SkyWest flight attendant on and off since 1999, and yes, that means I’ve gone through INH training THREE TIMES?! I keep coming back because SkyWest has always been a great company to work for, and being a flight attendant is who I am.

In the past, I have voted no on a union. I never felt like we needed one. The company always took good care of its employees, and everyone was proud to call SkyWest their employer.

Today, however, I feel very differently. Our company has grown too big, and we have very different management in place. My tipping point was in October 2021, when the race-related SIA scandal happened. I worked with someone just as appalled as I was about what was happening. SIA was broken, and we began discussing how to fix it.

We jointly drafted an email to the SIA President and a company officer. It was very detailed and specific about how SIA should be structured and revamped. They both responded, praising us for the detailed suggestions and thanking us for caring so much about our FA group.

We were told that SIA was working on some of our suggestions already and that they would get back to us. WE HAVE NEVER HEARD BACK FROM EITHER OF THEM SINCE.

I realized we needed a union group to support and fight for our FA group. SIA is simply an employee group. They are an extension of management and not in a position to actually fight for our FA group. A union run by our Flight Attendants would!
